How can complementary therapies help during treatment?
These are alternatives that rule out pharmaceutical products and whose treatments are based on a natural approach
One of the keys to success during fertility treatment is to manage to cope with stress itself, to relax and have a positive attitude. It is often said that the calmer women are during treatment, the higher the success rate they achieve. Whether or not that is true, it is true that these techniques can help you feel better during the process … you’ve probably heard all this more than once, and you wonder how you can manage to have a positive attitude after the umpteenth failure, such as having a zen attitude, being patient and confident, as well as not blaming yourself for not getting pregnant, and not feeling disappointed about not doing it in a “natural” way… in short, being able to accept that you have to go through the assisted reproduction process to achieve the pregnancy of such a longed-for baby.
Alternative therapies can be helpful. These are therapies that rule out pharmaceutical products and whose treatments are based on a natural approach. They include osteopathy, homeopathy, kinesiology, hypnosis, physiotherapy or acupuncture, to mention just a few. Recent studies have shown that hypnosis could double the chances of fertility treatment success. In fact, hypnosis is a recognized and effective relaxation method that has been widely used, for example, in surgical operations. Hypnosis enables you to rid yourself of stress and anxiety and helps you feel well despite the physical and emotional difficulties that are experienced during the process.
Other studies have shown the benefits of acupuncture. For an acupuncturist, infertility is the result of an energy imbalance and acupuncture is the ideal method to restore that balance in order to be able to treat infertility and prepare the body for fertility treatment. The use of acupuncture in the treatment of reproductive problems has been approved by the WHO since 1966.
I could go on talking about other therapies, for example, kinesiology, which will help you to restore the psychological, physical, emotional, as well as energy balance of the body, or about osteopathy or homeopathy … But I want to tell you about laughter therapy. Laughter releases muscular and psychological tension, and makes us secrete endorphins: hormones that soothe pain and increase well-being. Laughter is a natural anti-stress and anti-depressant method and is free, but very, very effective. Use it and abuse it … without restraint! It will be a pleasure to see you laugh…
After finishing her studies, Frédérique Vincent packs her bags and goes to England. While there, she meets her future husband. They marry in 2008. The months and years go by very quickly without any sign of pregnancy. At first, it doesn’t matter: they are very busy with their leisure time, sports, travel. Then the desire to have a child becomes an obsession. When fertility treatment begins, she decides to start writing her diary of an infertile woman. Very quickly, her circle encourages her to continue giving her testimony … She is currently a mother of three and author of La Promesse du mois, a book which serves as a testimony to infertility.
