Last weekend, the French capital hosted the twentieth International Congress on Controversies in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Infertility (COGI), which was attended by hundreds of doctors and experts in these disciplines from all over the world. At the event, Eugin Clinic played a prominent role through its Scientific Director, Dr. Rita Vassena, who participated as a panel discussion expert on the appropriateness of applying the most pioneering assisted reproduction techniques.

During the Congress, which took place from December 4-7, leading experts in these areas shared their knowledge and experience regarding the latest assisted reproduction techniques, all of which is aimed at establishing a common approach for applying these techniques in order to help more women get pregnant.

Techniques that improve pregnancy outcomes

Eugin’s Scientific Director, Dr. Rita Vassena, took part in two of these talks in which, along with other international experts and before an audience of more than one hundred health professionals, she displayed her knowledge and experience.

“At Eugin we pay a great deal of attention to all the developments that occur in the sector”, explains Dr. Vassena. “Participating in events like this allows us to contrast our considerable knowledge in order to implement only those techniques that result in a clear improvement in our patients’ pregnancy outcomes,” she says. “Scientific evidence-based medicine is what guides our decisions, and through it our aim is to propose to our patients only those techniques that result in a greater number of children born” she concludes.

During the event, Dr. Vassena participated as an expert at the roundtable on Preimplantation Genetic Screening, where they contrasted experiences on the usefulness of this laboratory technique, which opens up the possibility of studying the DNA of embryos in order to select those that have a suitable genetic load.

On the third day of the Congress, Eugin’s Scientific Director chaired a session in which the participants contributed different points of view on the use of time-lapse embryo imaging technology. In an IVF cycle, this technology is used to view the complete sequence of the development of the embryo before being transferred to the uterus.
