We speak to Eugin’s Medical Director, Amelia Rodríguez Aranda, about the benefits of EmbryoScope+ technology

By now, you know all about EmbryoScope +, the new technology that we recently introduced at Eugin and also its 5 most important advantages. Today, we want to reinforce this knowledge with the opinion of our doctors.

What is the greatest medical contribution that EmbryoScope+ offers?

Embryoscope+ represents an important technological breakthrough in the culturing of embryos in the IVF laboratory. It allows us to maintain stable culture conditions by reducing embryo handling, as well as obtain information about embryonic development that might not otherwise be seen.

In which treatments can EmbryoScope+ technology be used?

Embryoscope can be used in any treatment where an embryo culture has to be carried out, mainly in IVF using one’s own or donor oocytes. Depending on the characteristics of the medical case, we can follow the development of the embryo from its fertilisation, throughout its development right up to the embryo transfer at the cell or blastocyst stage.

How does the patient receive the news of being able to receive the first movie of her baby-to-be?

In my experience it is very reassuring for the patients to be able to see with total transparency how their embryos have been cultured, and of course having the first images of their future child is always exciting. Technology now gives us access to things that in the early days of our assisted human reproduction specialisation would have been unimaginable.

Does the recording of these images affect the embryo in any way?

In no way. We have no scientific evidence to show any impact on the embryo.

Describe in one word what an incubator such as the EmbryoScope+ means to Assisted Reproduction.

Progress.

In the next publication we will interview Maria José Zamora, to discover this technology from an embryologist’s point of view. If you need more information, do not hesitate to consult our special EmbryoScope+ page or request a first appointment so that we can provide guidance.
